Meet Tammy

The Good Sorts at Good Sorts is a series that brings our people out from behind the scenes and into the spotlight.

Tammy, a true cleaning superstar, initially joined Good Sorts as a part-time cleaning crew member, showcasing unparalleled dedication and expertise. Recognizing her exceptional skills, she swiftly ascended to the position of Supervisor, leading and guiding our front-line staff. We sat down with Tammy to learn more about her story.

Can you share a bit about your hometown and the memories you have growing up there?

I was born in Whitehorse and raised in Teslin, which is about 114 miles south of Whitehorse. In my early years, I lived on a trapline with my parents and grandparents. The trapline was located about 60km up the famous Canol Road, which was only accessible by a dog team or skidoo in the winter.

What led you to make Kelowna your home, and how has it influenced you?

I relocated to Kelowna in 2014 to assist my daughter who was attending the Okanagan college, and then decided to make it my permanent residence when my son came here for his studies in 2018. As a child, I visited my grandparents in the Okanagan region and was captivated by the beautiful landscape and milder winters.

Before joining the Good Sorts team, what kind of work or activities kept you busy?

Before coming to work for Good Sorts I worked in many different positions. Most recently I did Residential Cleaning on my own, before that I was the Executive Housekeeper at the Coast Capri Hotel. I have worked in many different industries but cleaning is my passion.

In your free time, what are some of your favourite hobbies or pastimes?

I love camping and just being out in nature. I do a little beading on the side and spend as much time with family as I can.

What’s your go-to restaurant in Kelowna?

I don’t really have a go-to spot, however, I do like trying out new places. Mad Mango is a great place to eat in Kelowna!
