Meet Allison
The Good Sorts at Good Sorts is a series that brings our people out from behind the scenes and into the spotlight.
In the spotlight this week is Allison Gechter. Born in Medicine Hat, Allison moved to Kelowna five years ago after falling in love with the Okanagan’s scenic views and breathtaking mountains. Allison joined the team at Good Sorts at the beginning of 2022 as an Executive Assistant. We sat down with Allison to learn more about her story.
Tell us more about where you grew up.
I was born and raised in Medicine Hat, a small city in Alberta’s south and known for having the world’s largest teepee! I enjoyed growing up in a close-knit community – most of my graduating class went to kindergarten together. The majority of my family still call Medicine Hat home, so I love to visit as often as I can. However, I’m grateful to leave the harsh Albertan winters behind!
What brought you to Kelowna?
The mountains were calling my name! The mild winters are an added bonus, not to mention the number of wineries nearby. After a few visits, I decided to leave the prairies for good and lay roots here with my partner and our kitty. I’ve never looked back!
What kept you busy before starting with the team at Good Sorts?
Previously, I worked as an Account Manager at a digital marketing company. My role was to nurture relationships with strategic partners and to ensure they saw success on the platform. Another part of my role was to create custom in-app campaigns and promotions for clients which I really enjoyed. It also happens to be where I met Kristian for the first time and came to know of Good Sorts!
What sort of things do you get up to in your spare time?
When I’m not at work, you can find me enjoying a glass of wine with friends or curled up on the couch reading a book with our kitty! I also enjoy doing yoga and crushing Nintendo or Xbox on the weekend with my partner.
