A Night to Remember: Good Sorts at the 2024 Kelowna Business Excellence Awards
The 37th Annual Kelowna Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards was a night of celebration, recognition, and community. Hosted at the elegant Delta Hotels by Marriott Grand Okanagan Resort on November 15, the event brought together the best and brightest businesses and leaders in Kelowna. For Good Sorts, it was an unforgettable evening filled with milestones.
We’re thrilled to announce that our founder and CEO, Kristian de Pont, was named Young Entrepreneur of the Year, a well-deserved recognition of his vision, leadership, and dedication to making a positive impact in our community. Good Sorts was also proud to be a finalist for Mid-Size Business of the Year, cementing our commitment to excellence in everything we do.
Celebrating Success: Young Entrepreneur of the Year
The Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, sponsored by Cristalina PARC, highlights the achievements of innovative leaders under 40 who have demonstrated outstanding business acumen. Kristian’s entrepreneurial spirit and leadership have been instrumental in the success of both Good Sorts Property Services and Prime Concrete Coatings.
Sharing the stage with Kristian in this competitive category were:
- Gabi Goossen of FILL – Kelowna’s Refill Store, a trailblazer in sustainability.
- Missy MacKintosh of MisMacK Clean Cosmetics, who’s revolutionizing clean beauty.
During his heartfelt acceptance speech, Kristian emphasized, “This award is a reflection of the incredible team behind me and the community that supports us. I’m grateful for the opportunity to grow and contribute to Kelowna’s thriving business landscape.”
Good Sorts: Finalist for Mid-Size Business of the Year
Good Sorts was proud to be recognized as a finalist in the Mid-Size Business of the Year category, sponsored by Canadian Western Bank. This award celebrates businesses that demonstrate consistent growth, innovation, and community impact.
Congratulations to this year’s winner, New Horizon Productions, a standout creative media company that sets the bar for storytelling and digital content in Kelowna. Sharing the stage with such incredible companies, including Rustic Reel Brewing, reminded us of the exceptional talent and innovation driving our local economy.
A Look at the Gala
The awards ceremony was an incredible celebration of Kelowna’s entrepreneurial spirit. With over 400 attendees, the night was full of inspiration and camaraderie. Some standout moments included:
- The live creation of a 4’ x 5’ painting by artist Jordan Perkins, was auctioned for charity.
- An innovative silent auction accessible via smartphones, featuring incredible local items.
- A moving celebration of all nominees and their contributions to Kelowna’s economic and cultural vibrancy.
Kristian’s win and our nomination for Mid-Size Business of the Year were among the evening’s highlights, but what truly stood out was the collective recognition of how local businesses are shaping Kelowna’s future.
