Meet Erica

The Good Sorts at Good Sorts is a series that brings our people out from behind the scenes and into the spotlight.
Meet Erica Beckett, our new Account Executive and one of the newest friendly faces at Good Sorts. Originally from Southwestern Ontario, Erica’s career has taken her through customer service, photography, hospitality, e-commerce, procurement, marketing, and vendor relationship management.
It may not have been a straight path, but every step helped shape the relationship builder she is today. Erica brings a natural ability to connect with people, create community, and make others feel genuinely supported. She has already brought a ton of personality, positive energy, and enthusiasm to the Good Sorts team.
We caught up with Erica to talk Windsor pizza, cold cases, Marketplace finds, and her dream of one day opening an animal sanctuary.
Where did you grow up, and what’s one thing you miss (or don’t!) about it?
I grew up in Southwestern Ontario, mostly in Windsor, which is known as the Canadian Motor City or the Rose City.
I miss the pizza more than I expected. Windsor has its own style with shredded pepperoni and canned mushrooms, which sounds questionable but is pure comfort food. I also have yet to find a shawarma in the Okanagan that comes close to Shawarma Palace.
More than anything, though, I miss my family. I am the only one crazy enough to venture outside of Ontario!
Before joining Good Sorts, what kind of work or experiences shaped your path?
Where do I even start?
I was heavily involved in everything in high school, including theatre, student council, band, and radio club. I even designed the entire yearbook in my final year.
From there, I jumped around quite a bit. I worked in customer service, lifestyle and wedding photography, and hospitality at wineries, distilleries, and restaurants. I also grew up around the transportation industry, riding along in big semis with my dad while my mom handled the books.
During COVID, everything shifted. I joined a small soap company where I learned about production, procurement, quality control, and ecommerce.
From there, I landed at Bone & Biscuit, which brought some of the toughest and most rewarding growth of my career. I managed more than 250 vendor partnerships, supported franchise partners, and discovered that I had a real knack for vendor relationship management and marketing, all while supporting the well-being of cats and dogs.
Phew!
What’s one thing you’ve learned since starting that’s surprised you?
That the confidence was in me all along.
Building relationships and community is still one of my greatest strengths, and being here has reminded me that this is where I truly feel in my element.
What’s your favourite memory or moment with the Good Sorts crew so far?
All of it, honestly.
From the very first phone call to right now, I have never felt so welcomed or genuinely excited about a job. It does not feel like work. It feels like helping build something meaningful.
The energy and good vibes from the whole team put a smile on my face every day and have really brought me back out of my shell.
When you’re off the clock, what activities or hobbies do you enjoy most?
I do a lot of pet sitting and have a long list of beloved clients I love supporting. I also do tarot readings on the side, and yes, I am a little woo woo about it!
I love Lego and puzzles, and I have a bit of a true crime obsession. I like to deep dive into cold cases and see if I can crack them. One day, I will solve one.
You can also find me thrifting or on my way to pick up my latest Marketplace find.
What’s your favourite local spot to eat, unwind, or spend time with friends?
I have too many to choose from!
The North End has my heart. Some of my favourites are Buffalo Rouge Brewing Co., Born to Shake, Rocket Subs, Railside Brewing, and Craft 42 Roasters, which is hands down the best coffee in town.
That said, I also love a fancy dinner with a view of the lake when the occasion calls for it.
What’s your favourite drink? (morning coffee, evening cocktail, or anything in between!)
Is it boring to say water?
I lived off grape Kool-Aid as a kid, so now I genuinely treasure a good glass of water.
If I am treating myself in the morning, it is a black iced Americano. In the evening, I’ll have a ginger beer. Feeling fancy? A non-alcoholic mojito all the way.
If you could travel anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?
To own an animal sanctuary one day where all the good dogs and cool cats can live freely.
A girl can dream!
